Gender Equality Policies

They seek to bring about profound changes in the social structure that is causing inequalities between women and men.

Help Desk is a specialized unit of the EUROsociAL + Program. It is responsible for generating a mechanism to strengthen the process of gender mainstreaming in the EUROsociAL + program and the actions implemented in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Help Desk Functions

* Reach a higher level of integration of the gender perspective in the EUROsociAL+ programme and its actions in public policies in Latin America.

* Develop a methodology of processes, content and results that enable the institutionalisation and systematisation of the gender perspective throughout all stages of the programme.

* Design a methodology for evaluating the degree of integration of the gender perspective in actions that enables an account to be made of the progress of the programme.

* Promote complementarity with other programmes, or national and international development agencies.

Mainstream the gender approach: a key tool to promote equal opportunities in the full enjoyment of the right to health

Physical autonomy

Combating gender violence: appropriate institutional responses, tools and tangible results are required to back up complaints. This Line promotes the construction or strengthening of tools to apply laws and to implement effective protection mechanisms. The answers must follow a legal-social chain: on the one hand, with repression shown towards aggressors, preparations for the receipt of more complaints, better investigation of the latter, the taking of coherent decisions at the civil and criminal level, the application of effective sanctions, and on the other psychosocial support, to listen, accompany and protect the victims.
Sexual and reproductive health: to enable women to choose their future from adolescence onwards, protected by legal frameworks. This line seeks to promote legislative changes in this particular field and to reduce cases of early pregnancies.
Changes in masculinities: trying to generate the collective rethinking of gender (specifically around masculinity) as a policy in order to address some phenomena related to violence and inequalities.
