Addressing teenage pregnancy in Panama

Teenage pregnancy is a complex issue, often accompanied by serious consequences. Latin America has the second highest adolescent fertility rate in the world, well above Asia, North America and Europe. For 15 years, the European Union’s flagship programme for social cohesion in Latin America, EUROsociAL+, has provided technical support to policy reforms at national and territorial levels, with a strong emphasis on gender equality and women’s empowerment. World Youth Skills Day provides an opportunity to address this critically important public health issue.
