The Omar Dengo Foundation of San José, Costa Rica, hosted a Euro-Latin American exchange on the innovation challenges of active employment policies, promoted by the Social Policies area of the EU EUROsociAL+ Programme. The initiative received backing from the Interdisciplinary Centre for Public Policies (CIPP) at the Alberto Hurtado University of Chile and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Costa Rica.

The first series of seminars of the "Square of Innovation and Social Cohesion: Social Policies in the face of Global Transitions" initiative began in Santiago de Chile, under the promotion of the EU EUROsociAL+ Programme through its Social Policies area coordinated by IILA.

After three conferences organised by the Office of the Attorney's Office for Administrative Investigations (PIA), with support from the European Union through the EUROsociAL+ Programme, the focal points of the Ibero-American Association of Public Ministries' Network of Prosecutors against Corruption (AIAMP) held a meeting at the headquarters of the Attorney General of the Nation to present progress made in the fight against corruption.

This training marks the beginning of the implementation of this system after four years of preparation, based on the initiative of the Inter-American Association of Public Defenders (AIDEF) with the assistance of the European Union’s EUROsociAL+ Programme. The project seeks to settle a historical deficit regarding people in custody in terms of ill-treatment and torture in prisons. Costa Rica, together with Argentina and Chile, is pioneering its implementation.

This social protection programme is designed to provide temporary assistance to people who lost their jobs, have been laid off or had their working hours reduced as a result of the health emergency caused by COVID-19 in 2020.

The EU EUROsociAL+ Programme supported SISCA, at the initiative of the Central American Social Integration Council (CIS), under the leadership of the Ministry of Social Development of Guatemala, in its capacity as Pro Tempore President of the CIS, in the organisation of the web forum on "Central American Social Integration in the recovery and social rebuilding of the SICA region: reflections in the framework of the Bicentennial of the Independence of Central America".

The president of Costa Rica presided over the installation of the Economic and Social Consultative Council, with the presence of the European Union ambassador in the country, as a sign of EUROsociAL+’s support for the creation of this body for social dialogue.
