Support for the Focus on Migrant Children initiative of the Mercosur Institute for Public Policy on Human Rights

This regional initiative, supported by the EUROsociAL+ Social Policies area at IILA, was launched to highlight and enhance the strategic contributions made to the field of human mobility in the region

The EUROsociAL+ Programme has accompanied Juan Miguel Gonzalez Bibolini, Director of the Mercosur IPPDH, in the presentation of the Focus on Migrant Children initiative as part of the 4th Edition of the International Course on Public Policies on Human Rights IACHR/IPPDH in the presence of representatives from 26 countries.

The  Migrant Childhood Focus regional initiative began in 2018 to highlight and enhance the strategic contributions made to the field of human mobility in the region, in particular the approach to migrant children from a human rights perspective.

Within this framework, it has been pursuing a series of activities and events with the aim of organizing actions, identifying best practices and preparing institutional proposals at the regional level. In addition to the Manual for the application of international and regional standards for the protection of children and adolescents in migration contexts, in 2019 the initiative organised the Public Consultation on Human Mobility and Development and the Regional Dialogue Focus on Migrant Children with the participation of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Organization of American States (OAS), the European Union programme EUROsociAL + , Save the Children, Plan International, South Coalition and the Swedish Cooperation Agency.
