Important progress in the construction of an approval system for professional skills in the countries of the Pacific Alliance

EUROsociAL+ is supporting the Pacific Alliance countries (Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru) in the construction of a system that facilitates the mobility of workers between countries.

The EUROsociAL+ Programme is supporting the Alliance’s Technical Labour Group, which comprises Chile Valora, Colombia’s National Learning Service, Mexico’s CONOCER and Peru’s Ministry of Labour and Employment Promotion, in the construction of a skills certification accreditation system for workers from the 4 countries. The process is being carried out through the work of a Network of Experts from the four institutions that, with the support of consultants provided by the Programme who meet remotely with the Network, are defining the approval mechanism based on national skills certification systems and an initial catalogue of comparable profiles.

This month, the completion and presentation of the comparative report on the evaluation and certification systems of labour skills in the Pacific Alliance countries, prepared by experts from EUROsociAL+ based on the sources and information provided by the Network, took place. Said comparative report had been requested by the presidents of the Republic of Chile, Colombia, the United Mexican States, and Peru, within the framework of the XIV Summit of the Pacific Alliance, held in Lima, Peru, on 6 July 2019 as the first step in the development of a roadmap that enables certification systems to be harmonised.

On the other hand, EUROsociAL+ experts are making progress on the preparation of the first catalogue of 16 comparable professional profiles to which another 16 will be added in work sectors indicated by experts from the Network.
