Twenty-six years after the historic Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, in 2021, the Generation Equality Forum is taking place, a global dialogue calling for urgent measures and accountability to achieve gender equality. This global meeting is held at the initiative of civil society organisations fighting for gender equality and is convened by UN Women and jointly organised by the governments of Mexico and France.

The “Euro-Latin American Visions and Proposals for an Intersectional and Intersectoral Digital Transformation Through and for Equality” session is part of the “Euro-Latin American Dialogues: from coalitions to action within the framework of the Generation Equality Forum” cycle of seminars organised for the Gender Equality Policy component of the EU’s EUROsociAL+ programme.

The main goal of this session is to gather innovative experiences in Latin America and Europe that serve as a starting point to undertake intersectional and multi-stakeholder initiatives that involve governments, academia, activist organisations and femtech networks. It is also about preparing a roadmap for action based on bi-regional alliances between different actors in Latin America and Europe, based on the needs and challenges faced:

AI, data and accountability for gender equality;

Reducing the digital divide for women and girls in access, skills and employability in STEM education and careers; and

The need to take advantage of inclusive technologies for transformation
