The study, developed in collaboration with the EU-LAC Foundation, aims to focus on the policies which enable greater labour participation and the reduction of wage gaps, particularly in the context of a pandemic, based on the analysis of the experience of some countries in Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean.

This study was launched at the initiative of EUROsociAL and the EU-LAC Foundation through a call for proposals to focus on policies that enable greater labour participation and the reduction of wage gaps.The selected proposal was the one presented by the Anglo-American University of Prague.The study aims to focus on the main problems related to women’s participation in the labour force and wage gaps in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, problems that already existed and which, especially the former, have been exacerbated by the pandemic.
Likewise, it aims to analyse the main responses in terms of public policies to these problems, particularly those that in recent months have been defined as axes for post-pandemic economic recovery. The study will focus on selected countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (Argentina, Chile, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay) and Europe (Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Sweden) as well as the European Union itself.
Already in 2018, in collaboration with the EULAC Foundation, a call for the presentation of good practices and innovations for the professional integration of young women in the two regions had been carried out, which had enabled the development of a study on the subject. This research aims to make progress on this journey established with the EULAC Foundation on an issue that is even more urgent in this context of a pandemic and for which dialogue and exchange of experiences between the two regions is of mutual interest.
