Penalties for gender violence in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic
Hour: 5:00 pm París - 9:00 am Ciudad de Guatemala
Country or Region: Latin American Region, European Union Region
Language: Spanish, French
Topic: Exchange of experiences
Olicy Areas: Gender equality policies
The objective of this webinar is to create a space for dialogue and collaboration networks between Europe and Latin America between the different agents involved in punishing gender-based violence against women and girls, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. Especially aimed at staff from the justice administration, the police, and public servants responsible for law enforcement, the application of penalties, and the elimination of gender violence.
How have justice officials adapted to the crisis? What prospects and difficulties are there after the lockdown? Have complaints, orders, or protective measures increased or decreased? How have the femicides that have occurred in social isolation been treated and punished? These are some of the questions that have guided this activity.
This webinar is the second in a cycle of three dedicated to the inter-institutional response to gender-based violence in the context of the health crisis generated by COVID-19 and was organised by the EUROSociAL+ Gender Equality Policy Area.
