The Regional Plan for the Implementation of the New Urban Agenda in Central America and the Dominican Republic (PRINAU-SICA), aligned and coherent with the Regional Action Plan for the Implementation of the New Urban Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean (PAR – ECLAC 2018 ), aims to incorporate the specific needs of the Central American reality into the New Urban Agenda. PRINAU-SICA promotes sustainable urban development and the achievement of socio-territorial conditions that make up more resilient, just and environmentally sustainable societies.
PRINAU-SICA was born with the intention of promoting well-planned cities and territories that contribute to mechanisms of social protection and generation of employment and employability, for men and women; and to the achievement of inclusive and resilient communities with the capacity to face extreme situations such as those recently experienced with the COVID-19 pandemic or hurricanes ETA and IOTA.
This document was prepared by the Secretariat for Central American Social Integration (SISCA), with the support of the European Union through the Program for Social Cohesion in Latin America EUROsociAL +; under the leadership of the Council of the Central American Council for Housing and Human Settlements (CCVAH) and the advice of UN Habitat.
