Uruguay is one of the oldest countries in the region. This poses challenges, one of the most pressing is the increased demand for long-term support services. This technical note is part of a series of studies on aging and care services for dependent people in Latin America. This document describes the system, the benefits designed to meet the care demands of the dependent elderly population, its achievements and challenges in Uruguay.
