Publication date: 17/02/2021
This publication reflects the main results of the action of the Transparency and Access to Information Network (RTA) in the incorporation of the gender perspective in the systems and policies of transparency and access to public information in Latin America.
The National Plans generated in this project were prepared by the institutions and other entities of the RTA, which are part of the DAIP systems. Five countries were selected as pilot experiences: the Council for Transparency of Chile; the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation and the Secretariat of Transparency of the Presidency of the Republic of Colombia; the Institute for Access to Public Information (IAIP) of El Salvador; the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) and the National System of Transparency, Access to Public Information and Protection of Personal Data (SNT) of Mexico; and the Unit for Access to Public Information (UAIP) of Uruguay.
The following pages describe the development of this pioneering initiative in the region: exploring the exercise of the right to transparency and public information in Latin America, including the established mechanisms, from a gender perspective. An experience that recognizes its limitations, but that can be constituted as a starting point in the matter, not only in terms of its analysis, but also with respect to public action so that the exercise of this right takes place without obstacles due to gender reasons. .
