Not one step back: let’s close the gaps of multidimensional inequality in El Salvador

This research, supported by EUROsociAL +, aims to analyze multidimensional inequality in El Salvador in the period 2014-2019. To do this, we used basic Framework Multidimensional Inequalities (MMD) developed by the Center for Analysis of Social Exclusion (CASE) at the London School of Economics, the School of Oriental and African Studies at SOAS University of London and Oxfam9 . This framework is based on the capability approach of Amartya Sen and seeks to complement the notion of income inequality with a methodology that addresses a multidimensional perspective. From this perspective, inequality is expressed in different important domains for people’s well-being, such as health, security, education, employment, adequate living conditions, and participation and influence in public affairs.
