Application Guide for the Inter-American Model Law on Document Management

The Model Law 2.0 has been enhanced with an Inter-American Model Law on Document Management and its corresponding Application Guide, in order to provide a tool that responds to the needs of the Member States in a comprehensive manner, strengthening their efforts in the adoption or reform of legislation that guarantees access to public information, using these new standards as a reference.

The Application Guide must be studied together with the Inter-American Model Law on Document Management, both of which were prepared with invaluable support and technical advice from the Red de Transparencia y Acceso a la Información (Transparency and Access to Information Network – RTA) and the Government of Spain’s Subdirección General de los Archivos Estatales del Ministerio de Cultura y Deporte (Sub-Directorate General of the State Archives of the Ministry of Culture and Sports), within the framework of the European Union Cooperation Program with Latin America EUROsociAL +.
