SDG 5. Gender Equality

Goals to which EUROsociAL+ contributes

5.1 To put an end to all forms of discrimination against all women and girls throughout the world.

5.2 To eliminate all forms of violence against all women and girls in public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual exploitation and other types of exploitation.

5.3 To eliminate all harmful practices, such as child, early and forced marriage and female genital mutilation.

5.4 To recognise and value unpaid care and domestic work through public services, infrastructures and social protection policies, and to promote the sharing of responsibilities in the home and family, as applicable in each country.

5.5 To ensure the full and effective participation of women and that there are equal opportunities regarding leadership at all decision-making levels in political, economic and public life.

5.6 To ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights as agreed in accordance with the Action Programme of the International Conference on Population and Development, the Beijing Platform for Action and the final documents of its review conferences.

5.a To undertake reforms that grant women equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to property and control of land and other types of property, financial services, inheritance and natural resources, in accordance with national laws.

5.b To improve the use of instrumental technology, particularly information and communications technology, to promote the empowerment of women.

5.c To approve and strengthen sound policies and applicable laws to promote gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls at all levels.
