EUROsociAL+ and Colombia focus their joint efforts on responding to national government priorities

A total of 30 Columbian State institutions which are currently participating in EUROsociAL+ in the areas of gender equality, democratic governance and social policies joined the dialogue table

The European Union and the Government of Colombia cooperate to improve public policies on legality and trust, guarantee of rights and access to services for equity and inclusion, gender equality, planning mechanisms and intersectoral and multilevel organisation, all through the EUROsociAL+ Programme.

Aiming to organise joint actions with the National Development Plan 2018-2022 “Pact for Colombia, Pact for Equity” and the implementation of the Peace Agreements, aligning them with the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and the “Post-access” country commitments to the OECD, the Colombian dialogue table took place in Bogotá, with 90 participating representatives of 30 Colombian institutions, coordinated by the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation, the EU Delegation and the EUROsociAL+ Programme.

The director of the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation, APC Colombia, emphasised that the Colombian dialogue table “is a meeting to support the development of national public policies aimed at equity”.

The head of Cooperation of the European Union in Colombia talked about the EU’s efforts to ensure a response to the Colombian Government’s priorities, with EUROsociAL + as a coordinating mechanism of policy dialogue on regional programmes in the country.

The director of monitoring and evaluation of public policy of the National Planning Department (DNP) stressed that EUROsociAL+ work areas are fully aligned with the National Development Plan “pact for Colombia, pact for equity”.

The Colombian dialogue table has provided a roadmap that structures the main priorities and processes currently underway or forthcoming within the framework of EUROsociAL+, making programme interventions more effective in public policies that improve levels of social cohesion, reduce inequalities and promote equity, equality and citizen well-being.
